Just as your landscape needs to be maintained over time, so does your hardscape. Paver patios & walkways can last for decades if installed and maintained properly. Due to natural elements and wear & tear, over time the joints between the pavers can deteriorate and fill with debris creating the perfect home for weeds, moss, and grass to grow. Furthermore, the pores of the concrete paver blocks can become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria, as shown in the photos below. The first sign of these issues is a great time for maintenance.
If your patio or walkway has grass & weeds growing in between the joints then it’s time for a repair. We start our restoration process by surface cleaning the pavers with a commercial grade paver/concrete shampoo and removing all existing sand, weeds, dirt & debris from within the paver joints. Once dried, a flexible jointing compound called polymeric sand is used to fill the gaps between the paver blocks.
Sunken or heaving blocks can be repaired during the restoration process. Pavers can be lifted and the subgrade can be repaired resulting in a like new patio.
The job is finished by applying multiple coats of 100% pure high-grade acrylic sealer. The sealer penetrates deep into the concrete paver pores, reducing future oil and dirt penetration, as well as protecting them from the corrosion of de-icing salt. A sealer can either be applied in a matte, low gloss, or high gloss finish.
